Can I send a screw off of my handlebar control to get a replacement. It is from a Norton handlebar control. I'm sure it's standardized but I would like a perfect match.
Also I have been told to use metric or american allen keys for two of my fasteners. They are a tight fit but it works. Whitworth allen keys are not availble from what I gather.

Certainly! I get people to mail fasteners to me all the time.

You are correct! BSW, BSF etc hardware use metric allen keys. There is no such thing as a Whitworth allen key. Only hex head hardware requires the speciality Whitworth tools.

Thanks for responding. I talked to one of the salesman the other day about it and kept his name for reference. First off I am mostly doing this for historical reasons. I like history and poking around and how things came to be. I fouind the salesman's insight very knowledgable regarding British Bikes of the time period I am interested in. Though I went to my local Hardware Store to get the goods of which the fasteners were an American Standard. It still was interesting in knowing how the bike was put together with the choices made.
Best Regards,
FM

Yes, every fastener is there for a reason!
