Although the vast majority of our customers are involved in the British car or motorcycle restoration community, there still seems to be a need for BS Whitworth hardware outside of those applications!
Among some of the engines, pumps, presses that we supply hardware for there have calls for many uses in airplanes, oil rigs, freighter engines/machinery and both nuclear and coal power generating plants!
Its interesting to me that a thread developed in the 1840's and later "phased out" is still used in NEW productions. I would be interested in learning anything specific out how and why that is. Why does a newly built coal plant require BS Whitworth hardware? Is it just because of the threads excellent shear strength capacity.
Anyone have any input?
