Hi all,
I'm wondering if someone can assist with a query?
I have some 1/8 BSW, 3/16 BSW and 5/32 ME leadscrews which fit mating female parts threaded into a mechanism. Measuring the threads, the tolerances seem very tight. I believe that the parts are 'close' tolerance threads.
The 1/8 BSW thread averages 0.121"
The 3/16 BSW thread averages 0.184"
The 5/32 ME thread averages 0.153"
Is anyone able to tell me what the maximum diameters are for these leadscrew threads to make them fall into the close (or equivalent ME) category?
Also, if I wanted to order replacement leadscrews from a manufacturer to replace some broken parts, should I simply be requesting 'close' type threads or, should I be specifying a diameter for the threads to be ground to?
I'm new to threads, so if my terminology is incorrect, my apologies in advance.
Kind regards,
Sam
