I bought a 65' Triumph not long ago and decided it was time to go through the motor. Found the primary adjuster drain plug was pretty much being held in by silicone. Most of the threads in the case were gone, so I had the hole welded up to try and drill and tap for a new plug. Now I wanna try and use a new stock plug, but im not totally sure of the size tap I would need for this.

Im thinking 3/8 BSP?

Can any of you guys confirm or deny this?

I think we confirmed, based on the factory part number that this componant was a BSF thread, although we need an OD of the hole to be able to tell for sure.

I also confirmed mate.. I agree with BTF.. You factory number tell it all.. I mean I also got the same question about this on my Triumph before.. and ended up asking the same question from a Triumph parts (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/triumph~rep.html) store and they told me the same.. I'm new here by the way.. Cheers..
